FOX has given the go-ahead to a comedy pilot starring Alicia Silverstone as a woman who may not be all she thinks she is.

The network made a preliminary commitment to the show, called "Queen B," last fall; the green light now means the pilot will actually go into production, according to the showbiz trade papers.

Silverstone, most recently of NBC's short-lived "Miss Match" and the feature "Scooby-Doo II," will play a woman named Beatrice who was the most popular girl in school and now runs a successful company. It begins to dawn on her, though, that others might not hold her in the high regard that she holds herself.

Jennifer Crittenden, an Emmy nominee for "Everybody Loves Raymond" who's also worked on "The Simpsons" and "Seinfeld," wrote the pilot. It's being produced by 20th Century Fox TV and Imagine TV, which also made "Miss Match."

Imagine's Brian Grazer and David Nevins are executive producing the pilot with Crittenden. Silverstone, who signed a development deal with Imagine after "Miss Match" ended, and Carolyn Kessler will serve as co-exec producers.

Silverstone's other credits include "Clueless," "Blast from the Past" and the upcoming "Beauty Shop."
